Hasman Dhaliwal is a business lawyer specializing in commercial lending, real estate development, commercial leasing, franchising, and emerging areas of law including cryptocurrency regulations and digital asset transactions.
He has extensive experience representing both borrowers and lenders in private and commercial lending transactions, including construction financing, term loans, and corporate credit facilities. In his commercial real estate practice, Hasman advises developers, builders, and purchasers on matters ranging from subdivisions and lot sales to complex leasing agreements. He frequently negotiates leases for landlords, focusing on regulatory compliance and commercial viability.
In the franchising space, Hasman supports both franchisors and franchisees with structuring franchise systems, drafting and reviewing franchise agreements, and ensuring compliance with disclosure obligations. He works closely with clients to navigate regulatory challenges, negotiate contracts, and resolve disputes while protecting their business interests.
Hasman also has a growing practice in cryptocurrency law. He has successfully negotiated settlements and drafted service agreements in this rapidly evolving sector. Outside his legal practice, Hasman is an active member of the South Asian Bar Association of Edmonton. In his free time, he enjoys technology, video games, and following the NBA and NHL. He is fluent in Punjabi.
Hasman holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from MacEwan University. He completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Alberta.
